Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of wheat flour
  • 10 grams of salt
  • 7 grams of active dry yeast
  • 300 ml of warm water

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  • Activate the yeast: In a separate container, mix the yeast with warm water. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it starts to bubble.
  • Combine the mixtures: Pour the yeast mixture into the flour and salt. Mix with a wooden spoon until a sticky, uniform dough forms.
  • Knead the dough: Lightly flour a flat surface and place the dough on it. Knead for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • First rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 220°C (428°F) while the dough rises.
  • Shape the bread: Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a sharp knife to make a few diagonal cuts on top of the loaf.
  • Bake: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
